TASK 1: Designers

WOLFGANG WEINGHART

I am interested in the works of Graphic and Typography designer Wolfgang Weinghart. His work is classified as Swiss typography and he is the key practitioner of Swiss Punk Typography. I liked his interesting works on Semantic Typography. He explored the semantic potential of typography form and its relationship to space and format to enchance the meaning. His book Typography is very interesting to read it. In the content of the book, he is showing his initial sketches, his designs and his Semantic Typography ideas.

PAUL RAND

I am interested in the designs of Paul Rand, who was an American graphic designer. He designed Corporate Identity logo designs, posters and magazine designs. He is very well known for his logo designs such as IBM, ABC and EF.

I like especially his corporate identiy designs. He has a unique, innovative and contemporary style. He combined modern typography design with ninetieth century drawing. He had a unique graphic ways of bringing letters together of the word. He was very strong in typography area. He utilized content of image, illustration and typography. He used simplicty in his designs. His most important accomplishment was corporate identity designs and logotypes.
