Sustainable design is also means environmental design, eco-design; to create the environment with the ethics of economic, social, and enviromental. The purpose of sustainable design is to reduce harmful environmental influence by responsive design. This idea range from small objects to bigger spaces and areas. It can be useful in the subjects of architecture, engineering, urban design, graphic design, fashion design, industrial design, interior design. Sustainable design is response to expansion of economy, population, harm to ecosystems, biodiversity and environmental crises. The ethics of sustainable design are; sustainably produced recycled materials, energy efficiency, quality and stability, design recycling and use again, design actions for carbon footprint, minimize energy use, use of environmentally preferable products, protect of water, better internal environmental quality and healthy buildings. Sustainable design is search for to diminish negative effects on the environment, on the health and getting better building performance. The purpose of sustainability is to reduce spending of resources and to create strong, positive environments. My opinion on sustainable design is the idea of sustainable design is important to protect the earth and its resources to supply to human being with enough resources. Sustainable design in building construction is also important to undertake the problem of climate change and carbon emissions, climate change requires to create sustainable places. Also green design is necessary for the environment. Sustainable design is very important for the future generation.
Ten things I Have Learned:
1- I have learned about the sustainable design (eco design also environmental design) which is vital for to protect the earth and its resources for the human being. I think so the ethics of sustainable design is very important for the subjects of recycling, minimize energy use, carbon footprint and protection of water.
2- When I started doing the blog in the last term, I have learned a lot about the blog. I feel that I have got good progress for doing the blog during the module Critical Debates in Design. I am doing much faster and better blog design.
3- I had awareness of the green packaging environmental friendly packaging system which protects the products and the environment. I have learned more about the Green packaging is recycled eco- friendly packaging and the aim of green packaging is to reduce carbon footprint, emissions reduce and energy saving.
4- I had familiarity of traffic light labeling sign system and what does means the fat, saturated fat, salt, sugars levels on the products, which have high, medium and low amounts but I had no information of food standard agencies fsa is responsible for traffic light nutritional sign system which makes the food labeling easier.
5- I had some knowledge of the carbon food print greenhouse gases but I did not know some important details. I have learned that how carbon footprint greenhouse gases releases by an organization or an event. I feel that this subject is very important for the environment.
6- I am interested in the subjects of the Ethics and Social Responsibility designs and the designers. I am impressed by Thomas Matthews graphic agency and their excellent designs, they believe that design and communication need to reduce negative environmental impacts and enhance the positives within society. I feel that they are very experienced in sustainable creative design.
7- I had no knowledge of what is CSR Corporate Social Responsibility (social performance) and CSR policy self-regulating mechanism. I have learned about the CSR and CSR policy. The business must have responsibility for their actions on the environment, consumers and communities.
8- I am interested in the advertising subject. After reading more about the advertising, I realized that there is a big difference between the good and the bad advertising. I recognize that the good advertising is advertisers who give right information about the products without using any selling tactics. I am particularly interested in good advertising. I have learned about the ethical issues; the advertisers who are using different tactics to sell the products which are not ethical.
9- I am interested in typography. Typography is the essential part of the Graphic Design. I have learned more about the typefaces after watching the film for the typeface Helvetica. I generally like Futura, Arial, Gill Sans, Verdana, Times News Roman and Helvetica typefaces. These typefaces have distinctive styles; they can be used as letters also as graphic elements in different designs. I consider that the selections of typefaces are very important in graphic design. Designers must have good knowledge of the typefaces to create great designs.
10- I like the animation films and digital media design. After doing a lot of research of animation and digital media design, I have learned more about the 2D and 3D digital media design, Walt Disney and Pixar animations. Digital media design is necessary for creating special graphic effects. I am really interested in Walt Disney animation films. I think that they produce the best animation films. The animation industry will grow further in the future and they will create more digital computer animated films.
